In 2013 we started an ambitious project at one of our customers, whose main objective was to convert waste into resources and, in those cases where this was not possible, to prepare it for reuse or recycling, avoiding at all times its deposit in landfills.
In addition to the aforementioned environmental objectives, there was an economic and social objective that supported the entire project.
After two years of intense work, in mid-2015 we were able to quantify the objectives and even have the Management System implemented and called Zero Waste certified by AENOR.
The results of this project are sustainable over time and, in addition to the total elimination of waste sent to landfill, the changes introduced in the processes have resulted in economic savings for our client and job creation.
In this way, we achieve environmental, social and economic benefits for our client.
In addition, the implementation of this Zero Waste Management System implies for our customers:
- The creation of a corporate culture by making the Zero Waste label an added value.
- Contribution to sustainable development as well as awareness and sensitization of customers, employees and suppliers.
- Compliance with current and future regulations in relation to reuse and recycling objectives, which are included in the applicable regulations (European, state, regional and local).
How do we avoid landfilling?
Giving a second life to those products that have no value for the producer but have value for other companies/foundations and/or individuals.
Repairing some products that initially have no use so that they can continue to be used by third parties or companies.
Reorganizing the segregation of waste at source so that it can be delivered directly to the factory for recycling. This involves training the people involved in the waste management process.
Seeking alternative management options to landfill for certain waste fractions that cannot be recycled.
